While I agree that they are extremely powerful, compared to their points-cost, I started way without them. Start Collecting Space Marines Pack (converted to wolfy wolfness with extra bits)Ī lot of people are saying Thunderwolf Cavalry. Space Marine Scout Box (For fluff, my Great Company is Sons of Morkai, you're better off with Long Fangs) Wolf Guard Terminators (I wanted to put my HQs in term armour, I built a Rune Priest, Wolf Priest and Wolf Lord with this box). Wolves are a great pod army.ĮDIT: Here's exactly what I bought over the past few months of collecting my first Wolves army (in order): You can also wolf up the dreadnought and turn the terminator captain in to a Wolf Lord, WGBL, or what I did: a Rune Priest.įrom there you need vehicles. This includes another 10 marines, which you can wolf up with your extra bits from other boxes. These things are THE SHIT, 8 foot space vikings riding 12 foot (at the shoulder) wolves.ġ Space Marines Start Collecting Box. hopefully you haven't thrown away the bits from your first box.ġ box of Thunderwolf Cavalry. I started collecting SW in the last year and I'm getting towards the "end" of my army collecting.įor what to buy next here's what I'd do/did:ġ more box of Space Wolves Marines. Grey Hunters (and TWC to a lesser extent) are fairly safe choices but don't let the rules or meta stop you from buying something you like. I've always been a believer in looks>rules because new books come out all the time so who knows what the meta is going to look like 6 months to a year from now. They're also excellent for conversions if you like that sort of thing. You can kit them out as like 3 different units, and you can also build any sort of special character you want from them because they have a lot (I mean a lot) of bits like banners, flags, and weapons that you can customize them with. Generally however, I'd pick up another box or two of Grey Hunters. Maybe you like the way Terminators or Dreadnoughts look. Thunderwolf Calvary are a really good anchor unit because they're pretty competitive and look really cool. I'd look through the codex and find some models that you really like, buy those, and build your roster around those models. You have the codex and rules right? If not, get those first.
